Active Clubs kicks goals for sport and rec groups

Fourteen sport and recreation groups from across the local Bundamba community have been awarded grants under the Palaszczuk Government’s $3.3 million Active Clubs Round 2 program.

The funding will support volunteers and the purchase of new equipment to promote safe and equitable access to healthy life outcomes.

Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said 1,693 groups across Queensland would receive the funding boosts.

“Locally we’re supporting a wide range of sports, from football, rugby league and AFL to softball, roller sports and table tennis,” Mr McCallum said.

“For some like our local Goodna Bowls Club and nearby Goodna Netball Association the timing couldn’t be better.

“Both clubs were heavily impacted by the recent floods, and these grants will support their ongoing recovery as their members continue to return to the sports they love.

“We know how important our local sport and rec clubs are for our local communities right across Queensland, and we’re committed to helping them thrive and grow from the ground up.

“This investment follows our $9.45 million Active Clubs Kickstart program, that supported 4,722 clubs across the state in 2020 and 2021 during the height of the COVID pandemic.”
