Containers for Change in Ipswich – Local voices to be heard!

Bundamba Labor MP Lance McCallum is calling for community feedback on the hugely popular Queensland Containers for Change scheme.

As a proud supporter of the program, Mr McCallum has seen firsthand the positive impacts it has on the community, from reducing litter to helping put a bit of money back in the pockets of locals.

The scheme, which was expanded by the former Labor Government in 2023 to include wine and spirit bottles, has made a significant difference in the lives of Ipswich locals.

Now, the Queensland Government is holding a Parliamentary Inquiry into the Containers for Change scheme, seeking public on the scheme's effectiveness and suggestions for how it can be improved.

Mr McCallum is urging locals to take part in a short, simple survey to share their thoughts.

All responses will help guide the Committee’s recommendations for the future of the scheme.

Please find the survey here.

Quotes attributed to Bundamba MP Lance McCallum:

"Containers for Change QLD has been incredibly popular in our community.

"It's meant less rubbish, more recycling and money back into the pockets of locals.

"The Parliament is conducting an inquiry into the scheme and it’s the perfect opportunity for locals to help shape the future of the scheme.

"Whether it’s a new collection point or suggesting additional items to be made returnable, I want to ensure your voice is heard.

"I will be submitting the results of the survey directly to the Health, Environment and Innovation Committee on behalf of our Bundamba community.
