Have your say on new South Ripley sub-acute health facility

20 April 2023

Public submissions about the proposed development of a new health facility in South Ripley are now open.

The local proposal is part of the biggest investment in new hospitals and new beds in Queensland’s history under the Palaszczuk Government’s Health and Hospitals Plan.

Community consultation is open on an Amendment Ministerial Infrastructure Designation for the project.

The purpose of the proposal is to amend the existing MID to deliver a new multi-storey 90-bed sub-acute facility on the Ripley Satellite Hospital site, and will also include a multi-storey carpark for patient, visitor and staff vehicles.

Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum encouraged the local community to have their say on the proposal before submissions closed on Tuesday, 2 May.

“We want to deliver a new three-storey 90-bed sub-acute facility next to our state-of-the -art satellite hospital currently under construction in South Ripley on Barrams Road,” Mr McCallum said.

“The sub-acute facility is expected to provide healthcare services such as rehabilitation, geriatric, palliative care and interim care.

“Associated works include a new internal road towards the southern boundary on Providence Parade, which would provide access to the multi-storey car park and hospital back-of-house areas, and associated landscaping and pedestrian walkways to link infrastructure.

“The delivery of this facility means even more healthcare closer to home while helping to free up capacity for acute patients in other, larger public hospitals.”

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard said the proposed development would support the rapidly growing Ripley community.

"This new sub-acute health facility in South Ripley will be a game-changer for our local community, providing access to vital health services closer to home,” Ms Howard said.

"This is another important investment in the health and well-being of our community.

“By providing more accessible and comprehensive healthcare services we can help improve the quality of life for all residents in the area."

Submissions can be lodged online and via [email protected] and Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, PO Box 15009, City East QLD 4002.
