Bundamba MP Lance McCallum has launched an online petition calling for an upgrade of Bundamba train station to improve parking, disability access, platform alignment and safety.
Mr McCallum said it was time for the upgrade following major works at the Redbank and Ebbw Vale stations.
“I’m encouraging people to sign the petition in support of the upgrade,” the Bundamba MP said alongside Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey.
“We’ve already delivered extra train services for our local community, completed upgrades at Redbank and Ebbw Vale, and with improvements at Goodna on the way I want to see this important work continue at Bundamba station.
“We’re very lucky that we have such an excellent publicly owned train network with so many services, but we always need to make it better, and that’s why I’m calling for an upgrade to Bundamba station.”
Mr Bailey said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to delivering a public transport system that all Queenslanders could access.
“We know how important transport and roads are to our economic recovery from COVID-19,” Mr Bailey said.
“We can be trusted to continue investing in the transport infrastructure that this state needs – our record $23 billion transport and roads program is supporting 21,500 Queensland jobs.
“I thank the local member for fighting for an upgrade at Bundamba train station, and I look forward to seeing the response from this proud and passionate local community.”
