More than 4,500 people across the Ipswich community are in work now compared to this time last year as Queensland continues to lead the nation’s economic and employment recovery.

Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said the latest Labour Force data showed about 120,500 jobs had been created in Queensland since August 2022.

“Locally that means about 185,500 people in Ipswich have jobs, an increase of 2.6 per cent on the same time last year,” Mr McCallum said.

“Business confidence and industry investment in our local Bundamba community continues to be incredibly strong.

“Recently we welcomed Neogen, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest livestock genomics facility, to  Citiswich Business Park at Bundamba.

“Citiswich is already home to a range of businesses and industry big and small, including Costco, TAE Aerospace and our award-winning Imbibis Craft Distillery.

“Importantly, we’re also supporting good local jobs through construction and our ongoing investment in infrastructure.

“Works are underway at brand-new schools in Ripley Valley and Augustine Heights and we’re building a new state-of-the-art $21.7 million building at Goodna Special School.

“Preliminary works on the full accessibility upgrade of Bundamba train station have started, and just up the road the fit-out of our new Transport and Main Roads customer service centre continues.”
