Residents of Ripley Valley and surrounding suburbs will have access to new Saturday public transport options from this weekend, with TransLink to introduce services every two hours on route 531.
Launched in January 2019, route 531 provides weekday connections between Springfield Central station and Orion Springfield Central to Yamanto via the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA).
It will be expanded to Saturdays from 9 October to meet customer demand for public transport in the rapidly-growing region, offering six trips in each direction throughout the day.
Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said the new additions to the timetable would be welcomed by local residents.
"Commuters will now have access to a Saturday service providing connections to Springfield Central train station and bus services from the Orion and Yamanto shopping centres," Mr McCallum said.
"The new Saturday services will start at 7.56am east-bound and 9am west-bound.
“With the help of delivery partner Westside Bus Company, we’ll continue to monitor all public transport services in the region to see how and where we can make further improvements."
Mr McCallum said route 531 had been well utilised since being introduced as part of a five-year agreement between TransLink and Economic Development Queensland for the delivery of public transport services in the Ripley Valley PDA.
“This service had consistent patronage growth before COVID-19 and has since rebounded strongly from the impacts of the pandemic,” Mr McCallum said.
“Customers continue to use the service in increasing numbers and frequency, and there’s no doubt it will only grow in the future.”
The seven stops on the Ripley Valley 531 bus route are at:
- Orion Springfield Central
- Springfield Central station
- Providence Parade
- Harmony Crescent, Providence
- Ripley Town Centre
- Parkview Parade, Ecco Ripley
- Yamanto Shopping Centre
