Road safety will soon be improved at a busy Riverview intersection as part of the Black Spot Program.
A new signal mast arm will be installed at the lights at the intersection of Esther Street and Brisbane Road, supporting motorists along one of the community’s major thoroughfares.
Updated traffic light phasing will also be implemented.
Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to improving road safety across the state.
“We are delivering a record $27.5 billion in road and transport infrastructure across the state, including initiatives like flashing school zone signs, which locally have improved safety at Bundamba State Secondary College and Goodna Special School, along with intersection upgrades like the one in Riverview,” Mr McCallum said.
“This intersection was identified by the Department of Transport and Main Roads based on the most up to date crash data.
“The upgrade will help reduce the risk of crashes for motorists turning into Esther Street or Brisbane Road, which runs parallel to the Cunningham Highway.”
The Black Spot Program is a federally-funded initiative targeting roads where a number of serious crashes have occurred.
