Safety works for Ipswich Motorway foot bridges

19 May 2020

Safety works are about to start on three pedestrian bridges along the Ipswich Motorway.

Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum said the works would be carried out on overpasses at Railway Terrace and Albert Street, Goodna, and Tessman Street, Riverview.

“We’re reinstating the protective railings on the overpasses to improve safety and protect pedestrians using the bridges,” Mr McCallum said.

“We’ll have six crew members working on site, so it’s a good local project to support jobs at a time when they are most needed.”

Mr McCallum said the works would involve partial overpass closures.

“The project will start later this month and will be carried out Monday to Friday from 8am until 5pm with some weekend work,” he said.

“Work is expected to be completed by late July, weather permitting.”

Residents and businesses may feel some short-term impacts including noise and dust from equipment and activities on site.

Traffic control will be in place to provide safety for workers and for motorists travelling underneath.
