It's been one year since the Respect at Work and Other Matters Amendment Bill 2024 passed the Queensland Parliament. It was a landmark win for fairness, equality and dignity at work.

That bill extended vital protections against discrimination for groups who had been left vulnerable for too long: pregnant people, people facing family and domestic violence, and many others. It also shifted the focus onto prevention by requiring employers to act before harm is done, not just after.

But despite this historic progress, the current government has stalled. By delaying the legislation’s start date indefinitely, they’re not worth the paper they were written on.

The good news? The law is still there. All it takes is for this government to enact it. That’s why, on the anniversary of its passage, we’re taking action. Together, we can make sure they know Queenslanders haven’t forgotten.
